Description
Spraying Systems Piston-Type Pressure Relief/Regulating Valves Bypasses excess liquid. Adjustable to maintain control of line pressure at any pressure within the valve’s operating range. Selected pressure setting firmly held in place by lock-nut. Extra large valve passages to handle large flows. Features: Removable bonnet for servicing unit without removing valve from line. Details: Inlet & Pipe connections: 1/2″.
Here’s how to set the Spraying Systems Piston-Type Pressure Relief/Regulating Valve using the no-flow, no-gauge method:
Bypass Adjustment Without a Gauge (Field Method):
- Ensure No Flow in the System:
- Close the wand or downstream valve so the system is pressurized but not flowing.
- Tighten the Bypass All the Way:
- Turn the adjustment knob clockwise until it’s fully closed. This prevents any bypass initially.
- Slowly Back It Out Until You See Flow:
- Begin turning the knob counterclockwise slowly.
- Watch the bypass hose — the moment you see water start to trickle or flow out, you’ve found the threshold pressure relief point.
- Turn Another 180° Counterclockwise:
- Once flow begins, continue turning the knob another half turn (180°) to ensure a consistent and safe bypass.
- This relieves excess pressure and helps protect your pump and hoses.
- Tighten the Locknut:
- With the setting dialed in, tighten the brass locknut firmly to hold the adjustment in place.
This Method Works Best When:
- You don’t have a pressure gauge.
- You’re doing a quick field setup.
- You want to protect the pump from pressure spikes during wand shut-off or deadhead situations.
